What did I expect to happen:
The applet opens at the bottom right of my screen, on top of the panel.
What really happened:
The applet opens at the half left of my screen (see attachment).

I've done another dist-upgrade and the problem is fixed now.

You are right, the problem *was* fixed a few days ago but it's back
right now on up-to-date maverick.
