I can replicate the problem as root, but not as another user.
That said, it appears to be a settings issue where the update or another
action screwed up some settings for gnome-terminal somewhere.
A co-worker indicated there may be a key mapping file which gnome-
terminal uses that has been corru

a lower case 'a' key. Capital 'A' works fine, and the lowercase 'a' is
