This image shows the problem most-succinctly. When I try to select this
palette on the web, the top half of the image is still capturing the
selection box.

I can confirm this issue for Oneiric on x64. The top half of the
screenshot will still contain the shading box. It seems like allowing
for an extra delay of even 50 ms would solve this…

Increasing the update interval in the system monitor preferences pushes both of
