through a command in /etc/network/interfaces using smbmount.
I get the same behaviour described above: can create, move, rename and delete

Same nasty problem here.
Tried to mount the share with many combinations of the permissions options
(such as "noperm"): no luck.
Samba server log doesn't seem to show anything relevant either.
