on an Acer 7739-6830 which uses an Intel HD3000 graphics chip.I do
not have screen saver activated, and powersave is off. I do not use

It was my error, not Ekiga's.
If one wants to see off line contacts on the contact list they must check that
option box in the Edit --> Preferences --> General Settings dialog.
