Hi,
I tried Ubuntu 8.10 "Intrepid Ibex" alpha 4 and the applet doesn't crash. I
also checked the source and the problem seem to be fixed:
g_strdup_printf and g_strdup are used instead of snprintf.

Hello again,
Sorry for the delay but I was busy. Looks like the crash doesn't occur with

doesn't crash every time with bg_BG.UTF-8. But at least I couldn't crash it

I didn't try changing the LANGUAGE to en_US.UTF-8 . I will try this
tonight when I get home.

It did happen one more time with up-to-date and restarted system. The
crash occured after 4 or 5 logouts and logins. But this time the applet
was not restarted and no offer to make bug report was made, just plain

This didn't happen the last couple of times I started Ubuntu. I rarely
use it, but for now it seem to be working. I will report back if it
crashes again.

I applied a patch based on
http://chad.glendenin.com/metacity/2.12/metacity-2.12-placement.patch to
Debian's metacity package v.2.20.2-1 . I think it works fine for now,
even though I didn't review the code if it works correctly, just made it
compile. The patch is attached.
