Problem solved. ill close my tickets on bug reports. the fix? simple
completely remove NetworkManager when switching to wicd. simply
disableing still holds the configs even though not enabled, which
definitely effect Firefox 3 and Evolution 2.30.3. just a heads up and

quick question - did you do an update recently via synaptic? im having
evo issues as well as FF
