I get the same ICEauthority and gconf-sanity-check-2 problem for Ubuntu
11.04 after logging in & the worst is that none of the applications open
& terminal commands are not working to fix this. the terminal does not
even show up in the list, have to use CTRL ALT F1 to open it. The
environment has changed from unity to gnome. the only thing I did was
change my user account profile from custom to administrator, also
removed Nautilus & replaced with Thunar as home folder was not
responding. now nothing opens.
