Public bug reported:

It appears to be the same in my opinion, in that those who have
commented on either bug have complained of common problems: multimedia

I can confirm this, except that invoking "killall metacity" only worked
the first time I tried it. After rebooting, this seemed to have no
effect. Attached is the requested file from my laptop. My computer,
however, has a keyboard with single-key multimedia shortcuts on it and
they work after ha

I am using the default Human theme. I have always had problems such as
this one when using the default theme, but had previously just 'put up
with it', waiting in hope for a fix to come along via the update
manager. I tried other themes, and the icon is the correct size in
them. Attached is how
This was due to a MIME issue, which has now been resolved with help from
a GNOME developer, for which I am very grateful.

What does that mean for me and this problem I'm having? No attempt will
be made to resolve it?

As many of the images I have tried to use as wallpapers are personal
images that I'd rather weren't published on the open Internet, I made
this image in GIMP. It is nothing more than one colour, with a
resolution of 1600x1200, and even this does not work.

The images I tried to add were JPEG format. No error message is given
when the dialog closes, and I have 15GB of space in my home directory.
Adding a PNG-format image as a wallpaper works, as I just discovered
before posting this comment. Is this a flaw, or a feature that has been
