after more testing, I noticed it only happens if you leave it paused for
a while... a few minutes at least. I think it may have to do with the
connection timing out. if you close totem and wait ~the same amount of
time and then reopen the file from nautilus the problem doesn't reoccur.

I got the same thing while trying to play a WMA audio file, instead of
the visualization. Now I'm really confused.
it was playing one WMA file, then I double clicked another one while
totem was still playing and I got the green scramble again instead of

Thomas, I can verify that it happened for me with the default theme. I
cannot verify that it's the same error. On a clean install of Hardy
(both beta and alpha 6), opening the theme manager (settings - prefs -

inactivity, resuming activity brightens the screen. However, the display
does not dim on inactivity regularly. While testing this it would dim

Playing mpegs that worked under Intrepid causes a failure in Jaunty. I
see no commonality other than it's only mpegs. Various ones that report
the same audio and video codecs crash and others don't (same codecs). A
"broken" file is always broken, so

directory that it was playing fine. Xine, mplayer, VLC .. everybody
plays them fine except Totem. Totem is reporting the video codec as
unknown. Others report it as mpgv or just mpeg. Yes, I have gstreamer
good, bad, ugly, sleepy, whee
and will just continue the current song and display the
text "Not Playing".

Another note, I've downloaded the kde source and attempted to patch in
the umask setting I desire (in the file.cc ioslave) and this doesn't
appear to be working. I wonder if HAL/DBUS is actually performing the
mount and not the ioslave (likely).
