some apps are not saved
example tomboy, geany... haven't tested all apps
It seems to me this is a regression because geany was saved and restored
correctly under 10.04 if memory serves
For tomboy, no change, I haven't seen it restored in
I tried to reproduce without success.

I have been told to use mc-tool.

I can reproduce this with karmic beta version and I am pretty sure that
you can all reproduce that.
I created users with 500 = UID 1000 and they all appear at login screen.
This behaviour in itself doesn't bother me in fact as if you create a user and
want to force its UID you may want him to
running karmic as a virtualbox machine I noticed that the vboxadd user
(listed as # 999 if memory serves - I am not on my machine right now, I will
correct later if needed) is showed on the karmic login screen (gnome). I
should try to add a user with id 998 to see what is happening.

One interesting thing, all what I said above was without compiz
activated.
If I activate compiz (system/pref/appearance) then the sound is normal
afterwards and upon reboot as well.

This problem seems to be tied indeed to some value problems in /etc/hosts and

I removed ::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback from /etc/hosts and added the lo

I will test things separately to point out which one does what.
