Steps to reproduce :
1. You'll need a binary file, and a plain text file. The file data is not
important, only that one is binary, and one is not.
2. Start up gedit from the command-line as follows :
$ gedit pla
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gedit
Ubuntu Release : 9.04
Package Version : 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
Steps to reproduce :
Find a file with Windows-style (\r\n / CR+LF) style newlines and search for the
LF character (\n).
If you don't have one, hit Enter a few times, and replace \n with \r\n.
