I will try, but now I don't have a Ubuntu 10.04 CD.
Anyway I am sure it is a problem with my empathy configuration or any other

The problem affects the utility which make symlinks from the tango icons
using the tango namespaces to a gtk icon using the old gtk namespaces
which is used by the old applications.
It is in pogress, so I suppose it will be fixed.

I think they are similar because they have a similar meaning.
I have suggested using a red colour for this icons.
I also suggest using the same icon, rotated and green to apply, using the
green v and the red x for yes and no actions.
