I'm attaching the rebuild I did; I just disabled the patch described
here and rebuilt. But do post if it works for you; let's see if we can
get this reopened.

I have the same problem using the amd64 8.10 release candidate. I use
an external spam filter that simply adds a header. I then set a filter
under the spam tab in evolution to tag and move these email messages. I
turn off spam checking by unchecking the check incoming email for spam
checkbox,
Oops - just realized this was for SpamAssassin not BogoFilter. Perhaps
I should file a separate bug? Or, perhaps the two are related?

I'm pretty sure this issue is related to having an invalid keyboard layout
state. I haven't seen this issue in a while, but I have a separate one about
the keyboard layout indicator applet -- the whole X keyboard layout system
gets confused sometimes when I plug in an external (Apple USB)
Confirmed that this patch BROKE xournal. The canvas basically didn't
update unless a redraw was forced (window switching, scrolling, etc.).

After more aggregate experience, I can confirm that plugging in or
unplugging an Apple USB keyboard seems to cause or aggravate the issue.
Often the applet doesn't crash, but rather shows a default configuration
(only one option: USA) and both builtin and external keyboards are left
in qwerty. On
I think this just /broke/ xournal updating. I couldn't try out the hardy
version without downgrading all of gtk, so I can't confirm unless
somebody posts the previous intrepid package. But I'm definitely getting
new issues that sound much like what the reporter described after
upgrading this
I need to change this, it affects the library that rhythmbox links to,
so to test this, i also checked out the packages, exaile and totem-
gstreamer, and both of these are affected.
