As an addendum, the following command without redirection is being
screwed by GVFS:

I'm having the same problem on Hardy with Rhythmbox and a 1G iPod Shuttle.
Rhythmbox was working fine until I decided to try Brasero. After install,
neither would talk to the IPOD and Rhythmbox would crash. I purged Brasero,
but that did absolutely no good. The only thing I get after the
Whoops, change Brasero to Banshee in the last post.
At least I got the first letter right. ;-)

I fixed my problem by looking at the default setup of another system and
noting that it did not have:
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/90gpg-agent
I renamed that file, restarted X, and all is well. Seahorse is running
by itself rather than under gpg-agent:
/usr/bin/seahorse-agent --execute
This is also a problem with Thunderbird/Enigmail in decrypting email --
seahorse no longer asks for the passphrase and the decryption fails. If
I use gpg from the command line, I get the curses prompt. After that
the passphrase is cached and Enigmail will decrypt email. The cache
still goes

Add one more problem to battery detection issue:
Last night the plug got pulled on the laptop and it drained the battery,
however, it did not even attempt a shutdown as it was supposed to do
when battery levels went to critical.
