I solved it by opening nautilus (Alt+F2 -> type nautilus), then right
clicking on a folder, went 'Open with other application' -> Selected
'File Browser', made sure the 'Remember this application for "folder"
files' was checked, and then went 'Open'.

volume-control, to 'Analog Stereo Duplex', then hitting 'Test speakers'

I have quickly investegated my BIOS settings. Under power management there is a
field "ACPI Standby State" with options:
-> S1 (POS)
-> S3 (STR)
-> Auto
The option that was selected was S1. With option S3 or Auto selected
then the suspend button correctly appears and the system correctly

I am using 8.10 and have just installed 9.04 Alpha 5. Both system do not
allow me to suspend my system. Hibernate is available (have not tried
this to see if it works), but the suspend option is missing in the
logout menu on the panel
I can confirm that this behaviour is also present on my Acer Aspire 5633
WLMi Laptop. I can also confirm that unchecking "Reduce backlight
brightness" and "Dim display when idle" under the battery tab in the
Power Management Preferences causes the power system to behave normally.

I have since tried disabling Compiz and this feature started working
correctly again. It thus appears to be a problem with Compiz, at least
when running in nVidia TwinHead mode.

I am running a multihead system with 2 17" monitors, positioned left &

If I have 2 Nautilus file windows open on 2 different screens, I can't
drag a file from one to the other - or from the desktop on one screen to
a filer window on the other scree
In the end (even the setup posted above stopped working after a restart)
I had to remove networkmanager and use the /etc/network/interfaces file.

A similar problem: setting up wireless via network-admin--using the
'static' configuration--does not seem to work. Attached is a log from
iwevent along with the steps taken to eventually enable wireless using
the networkmanager applet (all written into the log as I went along).

This bug still evident in xubuntu Live CD on 2006-09-21.
Not sure if that helps anyone, or the exact relationship between Ubuntu
and xubuntu. Quite a nasty bug is this, has great potential to make
people who're showcasing Ubuntu (and derivatives) look stupid.

Upon performing and aptitude dist-upgrade I am unable to get
gtk2-engines to install for edgy eft.
The issue even when attempted to be fixed by aptitude -f install fails
