Rebuilding yelp with noopt nostrip didn't help either, backtrace is
still awful.
I straced -f yelp and it would open /usr/share/gnome/help/libs/shipped-

Hi,
gconfd has a special behavior in this respect: it exits 30 seconds after
the last client disconnect; this is e.g. to avoid starting and stopping
gconfd multiple times during login. In my experience, gconfd alone
doesn't prevent a second login, but please reopen this bug if it is the
case.
I did this change in Debian in 2.20.7-2 which was uploaded to unstable
in August; too bad we had no merge of it. :-/
