sounds but no sounds on rhythembox, plus my icon theme failed to load.

I just had the same problem, song will crash rhythmbox at the end, it
even would crash the test in the sound pref area for music.
i reinstalled everything having to do with alsa and also
did this from a web page i found about sound not working
