When using Wayland and gnome-terminal, the performance/fps of the whole
desktop is real low when gnome-terminal outputs alot of data.
This happens when you cat some logfile for example, or do a tail -f on a
quickly growing file.
The whole desktop feels sluggish then.

Since 10.04 (fresh install) I was affected by this bug and this other one :
Bug #1240198 (Wrong keyboard layout active after booting into desktop)
Suprisingly the two bugs are linked, but think about all shortcuts
affected here.
None of them affect me anymore after I have changed my input
config
Since a recent update on ubuntu-drivers-common and nvidia driver I am
unable to select the NVIDIA GPU through nvidia-settings. When I try to
do so, all I obtain is a blank dialog box with a forbidden sign and an
'OK' button.
Before this update I was using the packages provided by ppa:darkxst/gdm-
Exact same issue with a nearly out of the box Ubuntu 13.10 64 bits
install. Does not effectively toggle between English-US (installation
language) and French-CAN (added afterwards). Although I see the
indicator toggling in the top menu, the effective keyboard layout
systematically switches or stays
Well, I had the same problem with a cron to chown and chmod all photos shared
by the accounts of my family.
I solved this by modifying the script launched by the cron to abort when an
instance of Shotwell is running.
Since this shotwell did not freeze any more.
But I think that a chown or a chmod
Did rebuild both kernels with pbuilder-dist.
But it remains the same:

Copied gnome-applications.menu to applications.menu, and it works fine
now :)

The bug is constant after restarting my machine and trying to restart
gnome-panel. I have not re-installed the OS but once I get time I'll do so

While using Firefox the bottom gnome panel that shows the open
applications disappeared. No crash was reported directly.
I had restarted my machine only about 1 hour before and had only opened
Firefox. I had changed no settings nor done any
Same problem and that's really a show stopper!
Changing charset to ISO-8859-15 doesn't solve the problem.

I think the behavior changed in Ubuntu 10.04 or 10.10. Before that, the
default was to get a full notification. Now we only see a red icon in
the tray. I was used to the previous behaviour and found it more
appropriate for real notifications. I manually returned to the previous
behaviour, unselecti
I've found a way on how to get around this bug.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.10.
1. Log into a ftp-server in Nautilus.
2. Drag a folder on the ftp-server to the top (or bottom panel).
3. Right click on the newly created shortcut and choose "Preferences".
4. Change the "place" from "ftp://example.org/folder
I have the same on an HP Mini 210, which I think is quite a similar
netbook - anything useful I can post?
