Title:
password field unusabl
Public bug reported:
I often lose the ability to type in my password on a locked screen
(gnome3), if the display configuration changes.
Steps to reproduce:
* plug off external display
* lock screen in gnome (ctrl-alt-l)
* plug in external display
After these steps the password field cannot get f
I experience this sometimes (currently running 16.04 LTS), you can
easily enlarge the time by:
* high load, have processes running taking 100% CPU
* a lot of used RAM
* slow I/O (hard disk)
E.g., on a netbook, I was regularly even able to type in commands on open
shells, start or close programs.
Upstream says the fix is in more recent versions, but could be
backported:
> [...]your issue is fixed by commit for bug #709162, which was
(stable-) released as 3.12.0 only. The patch can be backported by
respective distribution maintainers.
Currently I have:
Version: 3.10.4-0ubuntu2
Ubuntu 14.04
I am still experiencing this problem, there should be a recent crash report
about it, with this date:

gvfsd-smb breaks (hangs?) on resume
To manage notifications about
Regularly happens to me, even without resume.
I often switch Networks (VPN), which might be a reason for time outs (share not
available in another network), but generally after a while the connection seems
to time out.
A killall gvfsd-smb and killall gvfsd-smb-browse brings back the possibility
This affects me without using a virtual machine.
There are other bugs about excessive CPU usage,. which might be related:
#369194
#1404765
Similar other bugs were filed against other protocol types (dav, http, ssh,
sftp, fuse), so these issues might be related, e.g.

The issue is unfortunately hard to reproduce these days, since it
happens less often than at the time of first bug report. Still appears
sometimes on different installations/machines.

Public bug reported:
I have regular flickering screens (xinerama re-initialises them) in a
dual-screen setup under gnome-2d, as can be seen in .xsession-errors and
Xorg.0.log.
Sometimes metacity crashes then, as it was the case recently, when I had
verbose logging-mode on.

You know that you can move windows with Alt- ?
This is a workaround, but often needed on such small screens...
