Ubuntu Studio 13.10/XFCE has this problem. The Network Manager icon
looks fine, but it does not change when connected to a VPN.

I cannot connect to samba shares with my credentials via nautilus. We
have several shares that are read-only by some groups and write-able by

Basically, the fix is deleting the file /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90gpg-agent
and restarting X (CTRL+ALT+Backspace).
