Evolution hangs on exit, if network connection disappered
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/358368
Well, you don't understand me.
Evolution doesn't hang in sense of entering endless loop.
It just waits for remote server.
What I am not happy about is that it waits too much.
(And meanwhile shows grey window, which I can't close)

Evolution waits for response from internet server.
It should first ping it, and if not aviable exit, but it instead just waits and
waits.
Also it could hide main window, and continue waiting, but currently user is
left with grey window that he can't close.

This just simple.
Evolution stores imap cache in sqllite database, and it uses single database
for whole account.
When I start it, it reads all database in mrmory, and this sometimes takes ages.
I usually just remove this database.
It would

I mean it doesn't prevent screen saver from running.
I used dbus-monitor to confirm futher that it doesn't use Inhibit call to gnome

On the other hand when I use totem Inhibit is called.

I would realy like to see that feature.
You misunderstand the notification bar, it is actually abused for
minimizing of different kind, eg when you want to seperate a window from
the taskbar.
What it really needed is second official taskbar, that contatins only
icons, and put there all
Let me tell again, exactly like you say here, there should be two taskbars,
one main one and a special icon only taskbar for important/background apps.
And there should be two buttons exactly like you say, minimize there and
there.
This is the best feature I would like to have on linux
