Im surprised that this has not been reported before:
Using GNOME-Flashback under Ubuntu 20.04 it seems impossible to place the icons
on the desktop according to my choice.
Also I can find no way of replacing an icon image (the "picture") with
something of my own choosing.
Happens when I use gksudo (not sudo)

Trying alacarte and menulibre I can create a new folder, e.g. Documentation or
Backup, but cannot move items into the folder, so that it remains invisible.

Clicking on Places opens the file browser (Nautilus, I believe)
In the left panel, under the heading Computer there are two entries for
Desktop,
both of which when clicked give identical results in the right panel.

Removed gnome-screensaver; I have run xscreensaver for two days now, and the
problem has not re-appeared.

I can't be the only one this is happening to!
Also -- what seems to be a byproduct of not having a screensaver:
If I click on Guest Login I am sent to a new login, for user guest. However,
when guest exits (logs out) the session returns to my original session *without
requesting a password*!!
Is this related to bug #294730 ?
