I'm having the same error message. I just installed 10.04 on my netbook.
I sort of understand what I need to do to fix this, but could someone
tell me EXACTLY what it is I need to do to change the /tmp file? I have
no idea how to even access it. I think that the answer in post #16 would
solve my problem, but I don't know how to do that.

If this helps, I am not able to boot Ubuntu at all; it doesn't make it
past the login screen. I have it and its swap space installed in it own
partitions separate from my Windows 7 starter partition. This is the
first time I've ever used a Linux product but I really want to get it to
work. I'm not familiar with a lot of this stuff, so if someone could let
me know what I need to do to fix this, I would really appreciate it.
