I have just tested this issue on the latest Intrepid Ibex. That menu still
does not work unless I activate it somewhere else.
This time, I'm testing on VMware Player, while I had been testing in two
desktops and two laptops.

Just tested on Gutsy and it doesn't work either. It's the same thing, if I
right click the nickname before the message, it starts working.

I just tried to remove (purge) xchat and xchat-gnome, then I installed
xchat-gnome again, and somehow the menu worked. After installing xchat, the
sidebar menu didn't work anymore until I access it in another way. Uninstalling
xchat doesn't change it, even if I delete ~.xchat2 folder. Now, after
I tried to send files to people on different networks, OS and clients by
clicking on their nicknames on the left side bar then clicking on "Send
files...", nothing happened. Right clicking the nickname in the chat the
"Send file..." menu works, and the side bar starts working until I close
the prog
