Public bug reported:
This bug is a regression, I think; I was having this same problem before
upgrading to 12.10, then installed a patched version of some file (can't
remember which, and can't find the old bug report, sadly). Now with the
upgrade, when opening Sound Settings and selecting my Ales
Hey Conor,
Yes, that seems to do it. Commenting out that line, then
killall pulseaudio
and my mixer works fine again.

Hi Conor,
Thanks again, I do hope there is some way to get this working again; it
worked fine in Oneiric.

Here's the terminal debug... I'll try to get a stack trace, but I've not

Thanks for taking a look at this.
Yes, it's reproducible every time. As soon as I click on the entry for
the mixer (Input tab, Record sound from "PCM2900 Audio Codec Analog
Stereo"), the "Sound" window crashes.
It is only since the "Sound" control panel changed to a new look.

Public bug reported:
I actually don't think this is solely an empathy bug, but it is
certainly related to empathy. There is a grey box below the networking
icon on the notification bar, and it turns to an empathy status icon
when empathy is opened. Maybe this is just a "work-in-progress" thing,

Binary package hint: nautilus
When I first log in, double clicking on any desktop icon does nothing
except cause the hard drive to act up briefly. The second and
subsequent time I double-click, the file or folder opens as expected.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.
Still not working here, using gvfs-1.6.4-0ubuntu1.1 and Geany, saving
via sftp
Saving a remote file in Geany gives in the debug log:
17:10:53: CRITICAL : handle_save_as: assertion `NZV(utf8_filename)'

Loading a remote file gives no error but retrieves no file either.

I've never had a problem with playing restricted formats in Ubuntu,
until upgrading to Lucid development branch. Not sure what happened,
but now when I click on an mp4 or flv video in nautilus, it opens up
totem and asks whether I would like to search for a suitable codec. I
