Just to confirm that this problem still exists in 10.10.

I started having this problem today on Ubuntu 10.10 (full disk
encryption, auto login). The box pops up "There is a problem with
configuration server. (/usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited
with status 256)" near the end of the boot process. I click OK and the
desktop comes up. I can't think of anything I changed recently that
would start this.
