Ok, I figured out how to reproduce this problem. Turn off the power to
your computer without (hold down the power button for 4 seconds)
shutting it down from the menu. If you do this, the next time you start
up Ubuntu you will have the messed up panel icons.

Here are the steps you should take to reproduce it:
1. click on a file with in a compressed package
2. the file will get stuck to the cursor
The above will happen at random intervals, all be it - often.

Sorry, it did work. I was making calls from the call history which still
had @sip.poivy.com. When I made a new call, Ekiga used the new IP
address. Thanks for all the help everybody.

These steps once worked in Ubuntu:
- open terminal
- type: sudo gconf-editor
- navigate to /apps/gnome-power-manager/locks
- disable lock_on_hibernate
- disable lock_on_suspend
Even with these two locks disabled, I still get asked for my password
when I resume from suspend.
