I since upgraded to Dapper but as long as I used Breezy I had the
problem. Apparently fixes from Dapper were not backported so the bug
is probably still there.

I installed gamin and libgamin0 from dapper (0.1.7-2ubuntu1) and it now
works smoothly. A backport from dapper whould be nice, I guess
