Ubuntu Dock is derived from Dash to Dock and abides by the same
settings. You can change the transparency setting from the terminal
with:
gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock transparency-mode

The most common 18.10 stack trace I've seen people report is due to the
transparency setting. However anything that triggers an exception in
Dash to Dock when it is disabled on the lockscreen produces this issue
so there are many possible causes.

The root cause is the use of transparency in the Lubuntu-default theme.
Can be fixed by editing:
/usr/share/themes/Lubuntu-default /gtk-3.0/gtk-widgets-toolbar.css
And replacing '@transparent' with '@bg_color'.
Deleting the file altogether also seems to work with no apparent
problems.
