SOLVED. I found no relevant bugs on the TightVNC website. I then removed TightVNC from my WinXP system and replaced it with the VNC server from RealVNC and the scrolling problem went away. This bug report should be closed. I will refer this report to the TightVNC guys. -- vertical scrolling -

I should add that when using the mouse scroll-wheel on the XP desktop, the problem occurs on the Karmic screen. Scrolling with the scroll bars works correctly. I suspect this has nothing to do with the mouse on Karmic and may actually be a server bug. I'm off to check if any bugs have been logge

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vinagre karmic-amd64 on a Dell M6300vinagre-2.28.1-0ubuntu1 server: TightVNC Server 1.3.10 Seems always repeatable. All vertical scrolling with the mouse scroll wheel, both up and down, only repaints the top or bottom line of the active window.
