I can confirm that this problem still exists in Brasero 0.8.4. There is
a message displayed now though indicating that the DVD cannot be burned
with the enabled plugins. However, I have every recommended package
installed. I am not sure what is missing and the debug log is no help
either.

I upgraded to the Brasero 0.8.3 package from Jaunty and it did not fix
the problem. If it worked after compiling from source, then perhaps the
problem is specific to the Ubuntu package.

the absolute path with leading slashes. When I substitute an absolute
path including the leading slash for the word "path" in your above
command line example, it works correctly and opens the remote file.
