I tried plugging in to two different USB ports, then repeatedly into
one. It finally took, so the problem is intermittent for me.
It turns out mtp-connect was hanging in a terminal window and I found a
lot of what might be useful debugging info when I went back to it (after
the successful mount):
Still having the problem in Chrome and Chromium where adjusting the
volume/brightness using keyboard shortcuts causes the screen to flash
white while playing flash video.

After boot into 10.04 with Linux 2.6.32-19-generic kernel, Nautilus crashes
after boot.
When trying to do an automatic report thru apport I get this message, It says
that there is not enough free memory to do that.

Simple pdf files like this one works fine, and does only generate files in the
xx Kb range for the printer.

My iMac running osx 10.4 prints fast without any problems. And my IBM
T41p running XP prints also without any problems.

2600 color laserprinter.

I actually did not remove the screensaver itself but:

Have just removed the screensaver itself after I read your post, and
then it does not work for me either.

Work Around:
If you anyways use the black screen on the screenserver. You will not
need it. I have just removed the screen-saver package And now the screen
turns off perfectly.

On my system it also looks like it never suspend. But if screensaver and
powermanager both is set to 1 minute. It suspends every 100 secs. or so,
but switch on right after again. Can you not observe that?
