Also note that for me, if I hit super (for dash) it does not display.
But dash does open in the background so that if I then log in it is
already disabled.
If I hold down super, then the shortcut keys help page displays over the
login box. The launcher also overlays the shortcut's onto the items.
I'm on Precise (with -proposed enabled), ATI FireGL 5200 with open
source radeon drivers, single monitor setup. This bug appears for me.
My launcher is set to autohide and I can interact with it via mouse,
making it show/hide. The launcher also updates to show
notifications/progress bars of item
I have this problem. Sometimes the dock shows, sometimes it doesnt.
And some times only part of the dock is drawn (probably related to my
Nvidia card.. it does strange things).

It is not a Docky bug, thus there is no 'solution' for it in Docky.
Anything done to Docky would be a hack to work around the bug in gnome
session.
I offer the solution of fixing the bug *in Gnome Session*, where it
exists.

If Totem isnt going fullscreen, I doubt it is a problem with Docky
itself. Docky is simply setting a region of the screen that is reserved
(sets _NET_WM_STRUT_PARTIAL) and has its window type set as
_NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE_DOCK.
This seems to be a problem with either Totem or the windows manager.
**
It looks like Docky is not set to hide, so this is the correct behavior.
With hiding disabled, there is less desktop space available for open
windows.
I am unsure what happened when you tried to Fullscreen Totem. For me,
testing on Ubuntu 9.10 with Totem 2.28.2 and Docky trunk it behaves
perfect
