I press Ctrl + F to open up the search bar to search but I find that
immediately after I press Ctrl + F, the bar closes and resets to its
original state. I can visibly see the bar show up as well as it closing

I got no output when I issue that command. I issued the command "sudo
apt-get install gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock" without the quotes
and logged out then logged back in and the extension was loaded. Thank
you for your help.
What are possible reasons why this wasn't installed when I did a do-
