Whenever there is a vertical scrollbar on the right side of the nautilus file
browser, there seems to be no way to create a new folder.
Without scrollbar I can just right-click on the empty background area and and
get a context menu to create a
correction: the error messages are:

If I click the button "standby" (German: "Ruhezustand") in the shutdown dialog
of Ubuntu 8.04, I will get a dark screen and after a few seconds two error
messages:

With this driver I cannot activate the desktop effects, so I cannot
check.

I checked again and installed the correct driver:
nvidia-glx 1:96.43.05+2.6.24.13-19.42
The problem still occurs as soon as I switch desktop effects to "normal".
So it is a bug in the NVIDIA driver?

I have the nvidia-glx driver and desktop effects "normal".
I have just found out that the bug does not occur any more when I
switch off desktop effects completely!
My GPU is a "GeForce4 MX". According to NVidia, I should install the
legacy driver instad, but this seems to be impossible:
