this on my machine running Natty and this issue doesn't seem to happen

After some recent updates, I am unable to login to Natty in VirtualBox.
The startup tone comes up when gdm normally asks you to login, but the actual
login box does not.
The screen is normal with the standard wallpaper showing, but no login dialog.

gtk that causes the problem.

Oops, I should really have a coffee before replying.
I didn't use the same password, and I did try other passwords with the same
result. It is reproducible every time as far as I can tell.
I will run through DebuggingProgramCrash on the wiki and see if I can some kind
of trace (now I'm awake).

No, it's Ubuntu specific so far. Linux Mint is heavily based on Ubuntu,
which is probably the reason why both are affected, so it is still a
problem in Ubuntu only. Any useful information should be forwarded to

Just had a thought... the reason no-one is able to grab these crashes
with apport is because it is disabled when a release has been,
well...released (I should have thought of this). If you want to enable
it for one session you can do "sudo service apport start force_start=1"
and try to reproduce th
Quick sidenote to the above. Your hard drive install and data will be
fine as long as you don't install the CD or do something out of the
ordinary, i.e. poking around your HD partitions. Think of the Live CD as
a complete OS the same that is on your HD; you can install stuff store
stuff etc, but on
Can someone with this issue please test it in Maverick? Until we know if
it has been fixed or not we can't do anything, hence the procedure. Once
we can determine if it is fixed, and what fixed it, we can work on
