That can not be (or should not be) the source of the problem. Because I know
that the problem did not happen for other applications and web mail

I just update to 8.10 and I got the Error: Failed to mount Windows
share again. Used to have this problem after Upgraded to Hardy. Then it
was fixed. Now it is back again.
smbmount still work fine.

IMHO, this whole smb:// access from nautilus is really not that great.
It is fine for copying files but most applications are not compatible
with this URL, so you can not drop the files with smb:// access into an
application. Another example, if you using Google web mail to compose an
e-mail and
I think I have found a way to cure this problem. I went to
Edit-Preferences-Calendar and Tasks, select Alarm tab. There I
unchecked the Birthday Anniveraries because I have no data in there.
After that, the problem disappeared. If any one can confirm this, it
would be helpful for the delveloper.
I have the same problem and I also notice that it is repeatable whenever
the calendar event notifier show up on the top bar.
