Then how can I debug or provide you with more information? I did ran a strace
on gedit and clicked the "Open" button once, which resulted in two "click
sounds", and spotted only one gtk click event:

Another comment (sorry for the double post), I've run all screensavers on
another Hardy installation (7.10 -> 8.04 upgrade, with regular "aptitude
full-upgrade"s), and I did not come across the specific screensaver which
crashes my main PC :s
Strange, as my main system is an up-to-date installat

Sadly no .Crash file is created, it seems more that the screensaver
hangs.
To provide some more information, I ran gnome-screensaver-preferences
(displaying the crashing screensaver) in strace, the log is included.
Detailled steps of what I did in this strace:

I'm afraid so. Those five buttons in Evolution make a click-sound twice when
clicked.
I discovered the same behaviour with the "Open" toolbar-button (next to "New")
in gedit.
Is there some way I can provide you of more information / details

Sadly, apport doesn't allow me to upload reports on launchpad (I'm
getting "Permission Denied" errors), and as I can't recreate the error
(the Debian folder got deleted on reboot, as I said), I did have to go
the manual way.

Using evolution, I stumbled upon the following strange behaviour: when the
"click" sound is activated in gnome's sound preferences, most buttons act
normally and correctly (which is: one click sound on each mouseclick).

When I go to the screensaver preferences, and select the "Vlechtwerk"
screensaver (couldn't find the English version of this Dutch word),
gnome-screensaver-preferences crashes with no special output. Capturing the
