I believe I have this too. Mostly an annoyance. My workaround has been
to open a terminal window, do "ps aux |grep sftp" and then kill the pid
for sftp session. Sure do wish it would kill itself once it has
expired...

I have experience this as well. I have not done a controlled test yet,
but it seems to be related to the number tabs opened in your browser.

I believe this bug effects me as well. To test it without extensions, I
started firefox in safe mode by running 'firefox -safe-mode' which
disables extensions and found the same behavior. I tried epiphany-

the problem. One
I do not have karmic running to test. Probably could do a vm...
Anyhow, since I reported this bug, I have moved my system to 8.10 and
the bug I described is gone. I had given up on Epiphany due to this bug
and now that its gone, I will give it a go again! Thanks, Tim

Let's keep things straight here. There are two pieces of software out
there that, as I understand it, do slightly different things. First,
came the prism application. This is software is in the Ubuntu

I have found this same bug in the firefox 3 rc. Uninstalling the prism
extension did eliminate the crashing on downloads. However, I am
conerned that moving this bug report to invalid is wrong. Prism is a
major new feature of this new release of firefox where you are to be
able to make "webapps"
I have this nuisance bug as well... Behavior same as above. On Gutsy,
but I seem to recall that it happened on Feisty too. Just was never
annoying enough to look for a solution.

Sorry, but now I have gotten cool feet to posting my calendar.ics. A
little too personal to be posted on a public board forever. Maybe I
could email it to one person, but I would rather not post it online for
anyone to download.
Minimally, here's the thing though that I would like to figure out.

I do not have an issue with providing the calendar file. Where would I
locate it? Is there a particular way I should provide it to you??
Thanks
