Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gdm
GDM used to have the option to launch failsafe sessions but this was
removed in the rewrite. There is a bug in upstream bugzilla adding
support for this again and we should use it to add a failsafe gnome-
session.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-session
Using the patch in bug 432945 for gdm we can add a failsafe session for
GNOME again. Running a failsafe session disables compiz and all user
startup items. The most important one is compiz in case users have
problems logging in because of it
This is fixed in the "0.8.3" git snapshot available in karmic now.

metacity if you set a resolution too high since ideally it would then
switch back to compiz when you switch back to a lower resolution.
