The problem isn't that alacarte is not asking for root access, the
problem is you've broken your permissions in your home folder. Perhaps
alacarte should handle this better by telling you everything is hosed
and it can't start but the fundamental problem is your permissions are

Just to make it clear (sorry for spamming) the dragging in the workspace
switcher doesn't work when compiz is enabled because the workspace
switcher lacks the code to do it, it has nothing to do with what compiz
does or doesn't support. I submitted a patch upstream some time ago,
it's all on GNOME
This does not qualify as a paper cut bug because the suggested solution
(remove the brackets) has been rejected unless something better replaces
them. Creating that replacement is going to be quite a bit of work due
to the usability issues.

When you delete an item from alacarte the undo functionality does not
work so the item is lost. This is because in deleteItem the copy for
undoing is saved _after_ the change has been made to "delete" the item
instead of before. James Westby noti
This patch just exposes another bug in alacarte that seems to only show
up when deleting a KDE menu item. But seeing how it was completely
broken and now is just partly broken I'm not sure what to do with it.
