Text editor (gedit) works as expected.
This is on Ubuntu 22.04, but has been an issue at least since 20.04 if
not earlier.

Works as expected in Gedit <-- Name is highlighted, starting to type changes

When you download a file from a browser, the save dialog pops up, and

Can't. I fixed the typo.
Nothing remarkable in journalctl...
And it's a bit random: some subfolders I can download to. Others not.
Permissions/ownership are the same.

Not sure what you mean, but I only notice this when using the "download"
/ "save file" function from a browser. Nautilus is fine otherwise.
