Public bug reported: When I try to transfer the pictures from my digital camera (Canon S80), gthumb rotates the vertical ones without changing the EXIF information. This generates two problems: -Probably a loss of quality in the pictures due to recompression (JPEG). -The programs that do understand and interpretate correctly the orientation parameter (gthumb doesn't) show the pictures with a double rotation.
Step to reproduce: - Make a photo with the camera in vertical position. - Transfer to hard drive with gthumb software. - If you open it with gthumb it'll apparently display it correctly, if you use another program, like gwenview (kde) or faststone (win32), the picture will appear rotated. Suggested solution: - Don't modify the pictures when transferring them. - Use orientation parameter (EXIF) to diplay the pictures properly. ** Affects: gthumb (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Rotation when importing photos from camera https://launchpad.net/bugs/58595 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
