Upstream does not want to change the current behavior and has marked the
upstream bug as "Not a bug".
Unless we are going to distro patch this , this probably wont be fixed
upstream.

I'd like to get some comments on why this is required. I see from the Launchpad
bug that the idea is to be able to have an icon schema which would identify
Windows and Mac partitions as well. Is that the central reasoning here?

Interesting that the bug doesnt affect the weather tooltip! , so it
