I can confirm that the in the described scenario the Snippet's popup
doesn't get focus forcing the user to use mouse.

Running alacarte from the command line reports it uses /var/lib/python-
support/python2.5/ and my version is 2.5-5ubuntu10. I also have version
2.4.4-2ubuntu4 installed. I have several other python packages
installed. Alacarte seems to be a python app.
