Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
Seems similar to the Dell Laptop-related bug Bug #285323:, but this is a
whitebox and not a Dell. I had to leave during the update-manager-controlled
version upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10.
As in Bug #285323, the keyboard works fine

In edgy, aptituded up from hoary, I have recently started getting the
"greeter appears to be crashing" error when logging out using the gui
menu. I noticed it about a week ago, but I rarely logged out before
that, except to do a mandated restart. I do not specifically know when
it started doing
Public bug reported:
This seems to be a dependency issue that a lot of people are talking
about in the forum but nobody is offering a solution to. I was doing a
Dapper=>Edgy aptitude dist-upgrade. Almost done, the final result of
ongoing 'aptitude dist-upgrades' returns the following dependency
DPKG returns python-gnome2
So many things were going screwy in the GUI that I decided to roll back
from the edgy install, reinstall dapper and get my production machine
up, so I just fdisked the whole thing and started again. The bug is
gone, but not exactly resolved.
I am going to see if I can
I think that was probably it.

Thanks for the notice. The OS produces bug-reports automagically. I
might not have submitted at all, if I had a minute to research it. :-)

Seems similar to the Dell Laptop-related bug Bug #285323:, but this is a
