available by default in the main GUI if you have an account on
ekiga.net.
Unfortunately there is no official way to have ekiga 3.x on ubuntu

Hm... In Gnome there is a trade-off between the feature the GUI exposes
and usability. I need to study the guidelines more deeply and discuss it
with the devs. Maybe this might be part of a more deep change for the
GUI in Ekiga.

Unfortunately, nobody is currently maintaining DC and AVC plugins in
PTLIB. Work is in progress to support GStreamer in Ekiga, this will
bring those devices back in Ekiga.

Hi,
The intended behaviour is not to be able to use the slider if not in
call. It is fixed in Jaunty (ekiga 3.2.0) as the button is not usable
if not in a call.
