The problem is not confined to Ubuntu.
I am seeing the same problem in Fedora SilverBlue 38 and Fedora SilverBlue 39.
The problem is restricted to `btrfs` only; other partitions such as
ext3, ext4, NTFS look fine.

I am experiencing the same problem in a fresh amd64 installation of
lucid. The bug persists after upgrading to maverick. I would paste the
strace of gnome-session and X applications but is the same as the ones
pasted above (apps get stuck reading from /tmp/.ICE-unix and gnome-
session gets stuck
Also affect my HP Pavilion DV6 1308sl.
Strange behaviour: before logging in the touchpad and enable/disable button
work fine.

Usually those notes are stored in a folder called .tomboy, in your
home directory (eg. /home/CyJambo/.tomboy) . You can look there if
they're still stored and open them with a text editor. The folder is
hidden -all the folders started with . are, so just select in nautilus
View/Show hidden folders
