Unfortunately, I don't have that monitor available any longer, but I
tried removing and reinserting the USB dongle, and also suspending and
resuming the laptop. In either case, the Caps Lock continued acting as a
Compose key, so it is possible that this bug has been fixed.

Some more information:
1) When I play the song that won't play in the iPod from Rhythmbox or gtkpod,
it will play. So, the song bits make it to the iPod correctly.
2) It works correctly with an iPod Touch.
3) It worked correctly before I upgraded to Maverick. (An upgrade, not a fresh
install.)
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: rhythmbox
1) Download a podcast
2) Insert iPod (mine is a 2nd gen.)
3) Drag podcast to iPod
4) Eject iPod
5) Play file in iPod
It shows up normally, but the iPod won't play it.
This used to work fine in Lucid, and it broke in the Maverick Beta.

I actually did learn enough to do this--see my post
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86382#c153. It worked like a
charm, but it doesn't look as if anyone wanted to bite and roll that
into a patch. Then I found out that AWN works just fine with a vertical
panel, and that's what I use now.
I have the same problem. I set Caps Lock as the compose key, and the
setting is lost when the keyboard is disconnected and reconnected.
(Unfortunately, this happens whenever I turn my monitor off--I have the
Logitech radio dongle plugged into a USB plug in the monitor.)

I am running Ubuntu Jaunty, and have a very odd problem with gnome-
terminal. In gnome-terminal, and only gnome-terminal, the lowercase e
doesn't work. It had worked fine ever since I installed the Jaunty alpha
on this machine and stopped working today. A reboot didn't cure
I had a look at Edit-Keyboard shortcuts in Gnome Terminal and noticed
that the paste key was bound to Super+e. This was the problem. When I
changed it to Ctrl+Shift+E, the e key worked fine again. Changing it to
Super+e broke it once again. Look like a genuine bug in Gnome Terminal.

On my Thinkpad T500 with an external Logitech wave keyboard, hitting the
mute button merely toggles a pretty red x on the screen without
affecting the actual sound. Similarly, selecting mute in the volume
control applet has no effect. The mute button on the laptop works as it
should.
